5 Reasons to Support Bernie

The first time Darin and I heard Bernie speak was the first Democratic debate. This debate was a stark contrast between the Republican debate, which was all about the candidates side swiping each other in personal attacks. When I listened to Bernie’s message, I was shocked. It could feel truth ringing in my ears, which I hadn’t felt from any politician to date. I just couldn’t believe that he was openly discussing all of the corruption that has been happening and how disconnected our country has become. He is actively working to reveal truth to the average American and not afraid to battle big powers in order to save the American Dream. Over the last few weekends, Darin and I have been dedicating most, if not all, of our time to the Bernie Sanders campaign. We traveled to Nevada to push for him in rural areas, and he ended up winning in the areas…

Never Ending Bigotry

When I say the word bigot, you probably think of a man sitting on his porch adorned with a Confederate flag hat, spewing racist comments and praising Jesus. While there are those who fit this stereo type, I am much more concerned for the bigotry rising on the liberal side of things. When we look at the word bigot we find it means; a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions. As tensions begin to rise, I have begun to see more and more hatred turn toward the “ignorant” conservative group as arguments such as religion, gun rights, etc. continue to be at the forefront of discussion. I have even found myself guilty of ignoring or berating somebody whose views are slightly more conservative than mine. I think this is because there is a consensus growing in our society, that if you are conservative you are ignorant, which…

Money, a Facade?

For the first time in years we hear people talking about the big, bad, scary, Socialism. Some run for the hills shouting “Communism!”, but more and more are willing to discuss the term Socialism and try to understand how it can benefit society as a whole. Personally, I love the idea of Democratic Socialism. A government that promotes a free market, while advocating for power to be held by all, and not just the wealthy of society. But as I sit and ponder on how government can truly fit best for the people, I always get hung up on the concept of money. Why must we give power to something that, quite literally, has no value? For me the answer to that question is, control and domination. Currently, we rely on a system of fraud in the form of the Federal Reserve. If you don’t understand how the Federal Reserve System works, Check…

The Fight for Our Minds

It’s no secret that here in the United States education is the pursuit of the wealthy, and those willing to shoulder a mountain of debt.  With a 4 year degree averaging $35,000, it’s easy to see why so many are so upset. But, what affect does a limited education play in a person’s ability to contribute to society? If one’s sole motivation is monetary gains, a degree helps a person on average earn $17,000 more in annual income. Not only that, but as we welcome in a wonderful world of technology, education is needed to simply survive. We are quickly approaching a world in which robots could potentially replace 80% of today’s workforce. This doesn’t mean 80% of the workforce will become obsolete, but will have to adapt and evolve to create a new venture for work. That evolution can only take place as long as education is at the…

Rebel or Slave The Choice is Yours

We are experiencing a time of political unrest in our country. Much like the Galactic Republic of Star Wars, our political systems power has been subverted to aid the interest of the few (The Sith). The people no longer have a voice because that voice has been silenced through manipulation of the media and insane amount of money pouring into the pockets of people who are supposed to be our representative. In this frightening time we are presented with a choice. Will we sit idly by as more and more rights are stripped from us in the name of security; or will we fight in the name of liberty and arise as rebels to fight the tyranny of an empire that is quickly forming around us? Throughout history we have seen false flags that have sparked the American people to fight and kill innocence in the name of freedom and…

Learn a Language, Change Your Perception

Since I was a wee lad everybody around me has pushed me to learn a language other than my mother tongue. I begrudgingly tried my hand at German, then fumbled my way through high school Spanish. I never really put effort into learning a second language until I started to see a Hispanic culture blossom around me. I still distinctly remember sitting in a room full of Latinos and not being able to understand a thing they were saying. At that moment, I had never felt so inadequate as a person. These people had the ability to connect through a medium that was completely foreign to me. It was so aggravating that I resolved to make a change. The very next day I decided to put everything I had into learning. I took classes, practiced at night on Rosetta Stone, until finally I was eligible for an intensive course in Oviedo,…

CELL Phones

My phone, my computer, and my consoles have been my haven for as long as I could remember. I clutched to them to receive any sense of love and companionship that I could. However, I was blind to this digital haven presented to me. When I traveled to Spain my eyes were opened to where the true haven is. It is all around me. It is the people we pass and forget to greet. It is in the loving embrace friends share after a long absence. I had forgotten that, because I held everybody at arms length so I had room to text others that were not there beside me. Spain allowed me to see the trappings of my own world and it scared me to my core. I came from a place in which everybody is locked into their phones, refusing to break from their digital paradise for any connection…
